I received a book today that was supposed to be a hardcover ....however the copy I received is a paperback. I know I could and probably should have marked it wrap but it didn't bother me all that much and I wouldn't have requested my token back I marked it received and sent the shipper a very nice message pointing out her posting error. When I checked the isbn number in the system it does bring this copy up as a hardcover NOT a paperback...and the only paperback listed is a large print and those numbers don't match either. So was this still an error posting? Dracula, my love. 9780061923036

It was absolutely an error in posting and I wish you would have marked it RWAP so that member knows they cannot be sending paperbacks for listings that say hardcover. You don't have to ask for your credit back, but it should be logged as a wrong book sent. Four things HAVE to match when posting a book ISBN, Title, Author and binding Type. If the ISBN brings up a listing that has any of those 4 items differing the book needs to be posted as a book without an ISBN. Had that member went to the Help Center and typed - paperback listed as a hardcover - they would have seen that the book couldn't be posted by its ISBN.

ISBNs can be used on multiple versions. When that happens, the first one in the system gets the ISBN and all others need to be posted as books without ISBNs.

Acutally I am seeing this book as a paperback only and was not published as a hardcover so PBS is wrong here and not the book.  I searched on amazon and there is no listing for it as a hardback, same with OCLC there is NO listing for a hardback version.

I honestly didn't realize it was supposed to be a hardcover until the very last second as I hit the "submit" button in the received options.....the word hardcover just happened to catch my eye and at that point I had to go check my transaction archive to confirm the error

Even if the listing is dead wrong, the book cannot be posted if the binding doesn't match. It is offered at Borders.com as a hardcover under that ISBN tho so I doubt they'd ever change the listing. http://www.borders.com/online/store/TitleDetail?sku=0061923036

If both the paperback and hardcover were published under the same ISBN Tammie, then it's easy for members to remember to double check for that when posting.  So yes it's a posting error, or maybe more correctly a posting oversight.

OR, Xen is correct.  If the book was only ever published as a paperback under that ISBN . . . in which case it should be submitted to the PBS corrections team.
