New thread for 2010! Also, with 13 pages on the last one I think we're due. :)

Right now I'm reading Soulless by Gail Carriger and absolutely loving it so far, it definitely lives up the the hype. I'm also FINALLY reading World War Z by Max Brooks, I actually made it the first book of a new book club I started on a social networking site i'm on, so I'm very excited about reading it. Once I got used to the dry, non-fiction style I've really been getting into it.

Not sure if anyone here cares are comic books/graphic novels, but I'm also reading the Hack/Slash Omnibus Volume 2 here and there, as a horror movie nerd I really love this series.

I've been reading the series The Hallows by Kim Harrison. I've really liked it so far. I'm currently on the 4th book. Also I'm reading The Vampire Diaries series. I'm reading her newest one right now, The Return: Nightfall.

Just finished Ashes of Midnight and then Midnight Awakening for the 100th time.  LOL  Waiting on Shades of Midnight in the mail so I'm not sure what I'll grab off my shelf til it gets here.  So many to choose from.

Heather, how did you get it early?  Did it release in some of the stores earlier?  I know sometimes borders does that if there's no absolute designated release date.

Kim - My local Walmart is infamous for putting out books early. Sometimes weeks ahead of schedule too.

my Borders didn't have Ecstasy Unveiled out - but they did have Unperfect Souls (Connor Grey, Bk 4) , which isn't supposed to be out until 1/26.

btw, did anyone else notice Pleasure of a Dark Prince (which said 1/19 when i first looked it up) got pushed back to 2/16?  bummer.

Also, with 13 pages on the last one I think we're due. :)

LOL!  we've got threads in the Games forum that have hundreds of pages.  i'm pretty sure we can probably use this thread for the whole rest of 2010 with no problems.  :)

read Underground (Greywalker, Bk 3) by Kat Richardson.  i liked this much better than book 2.  the character is finally comfortable with herself (or maybe it's the author), but it made it much easier to focus on the main storyline of finding the monster than in the prior book.

read The Renegade Hunter (Argeneau Vampires, Bk 12) by Lynsay Sands.  after the last two Rogue Hunter books were so very uninteresting, i swore i'd give up this series if the next one wasn't better.  fortunately, it was.  :)  i don't think it had the humor that many of her earlier books had, but it did have a good story.  maybe because we're back to an Aregeneau?

read Caleb (Shadow Wranglers) by Sarah McCarty.  i liked Running Wild and Wild Instinct, but not this one so much.  probably because all the 'why' questions that the main character wanted answers to and didn't get, i *also* wanted to know and didn't.  i can't figure out how to say what else i found irritating without giving things away.  so sort of good - and will be better if we get some of those questions answered in the next book, or at least they *try* to find out.

i started the anthology Mean Streets last night, and only got as far as the first story, which was a Dresden Files story by Jim Butcher.  i liked it, no surprise.  :)  [btw, there's *way* less wishers for the new mmp reprint Mean Streets if anyone still waiting hasn't seen it yet.]

Ellen, I know about Pleasure of a Dark Prince, I was soooooo disappointed.  You know she's my fave and I am always more than anxious when I'm awaiting something new of hers.  What's worse is that I was teeming with anticipation when Deep Kiss of Winter came out, only to be very sadly disappointed.  I LOVEEEE the wroth brothers and couldn't believe that she killed that story.  I have read every one of her books, even her older stuff and have liked all of them, except that one.

I am reading Three Days To Dead by Kelly Meding. So far I really like it

From the book description:

"They’ll never see her coming. . . .

When Evangeline Stone wakes up naked and bruised on a cold slab at the morgue—in a stranger’s body, with no memory of who she is and how she got there—her troubles are only just beginning. Before that night she and the two other members of her Triad were the city’s star bounty hunters, mercilessly cleansing the city of the murderous creatures living in the shadows, from vampires to shape-shifters to trolls. Then something terrible happened that not only cost all three of them their lives but also convinced the city’s other Hunters that Evy was a traitor—and she can’t even remember what it was.

Now she’s a fugitive, piecing together her memory, trying to deal some serious justice—and discovering that she has only three days to solve her own murder before the reincarnation spell wears off. Because in three days Evy will die again—but this time there’s no second chance. . . ."

just read Lover Enshrined by J.R. Ward....it's my fav BDB book so far, I cried at the end lol Now I am reading The Darkest Whisper by Gena Showalter...trying to finish up on unread series, since I have so many, before I start any new ones lol

I really wish Ward's heroines weren't all doormats, for the most part. I'd like to see one fighting along with the men.

I'm finishing up Esctasy Unveiled. I really like it as a whole -- but the I can't sleep with you because I'm afraid I'll kill you got old pretty fast. It's going to kill me to have to wait for the next book, especially since we get a taste of the relationship in this book. All in all I liked it, but Wraith is still my fave demon.

Ashy, you really loved Lover Enshrined? It was my least fave of the BDB books. The whole wizard thing irked me and I really just didn't like Cormia.

Read Backup by Jim Butcher.  While it is great to know more about Thomas, it was 70 pages and a large font.  I'd say it is more of a short story than a novella.  Not worth the price to buy.  This is an edition for serious collectors.   But I'm really interested to see where Thomas and Lara go from here.

There is talk of a Harry D short story collection coming in late 2010.   (Already titled Side Jobs, but no ISBN.)  Oh yeah.

(Thank you Ellen for lending it to me.)
