Does anyone do book box swaps with paranormal books? I have been looking into it. But I am not sure I really want to pay the $8.00 to be able to do it.

I belong to BOB and I feel it's paid for itself over and over again!  You can choose Paranormal, L&R, Horror--------------it doesn't matter as long as the person you want to swap with wants something from your bookshelf.:)

i've never joined BOB, but isn't it only for books on your bookshelf?  so many of the paranormal books are wishlisted i'm not sure it would be worth it if that's what you were looking for.

Yea I  have been looking at who has what on their bookshelves and there are so little of the paranormal books on them from one person. I believe the most I found that someone has is around 25. Considering 1/2 of them are something I already have or dont want it isnt worth it. I was hoping there were other sites. When I went to the P.O yesterday I realized that it would have been so much cheaper if all the books I sent out where going to the same person. Which is what got me thinking about swapping by the box.

Thanks for your help

Marissa

I prefer Paranormals, but have few on my shelf!  I usually keep them or list them here for whoever has them on their WL.  I am a very eclectic reader and love everything from Paranormal, Erotica, Black Ops, Romance.............................so BOB does work for me.  I might trade a book and months down the line I want to read it again, or run across a series that looks interesting.  I just go do a search on the author and check who has the most of those books and request a BOB swap.  This is why BOB works for me.  I guess it depends on your point of view.  Diversity makes the world go around.

Norma I am like you. I have some paranormals on myself. There are more that I would be willing to get rid of if I was doing a box swap with someone. But there are a number of ones I wouldnt get rid of because I will reread them again. I am an avid reader and read about a book a day. I read everything but prefer paranormal romance right now. I also getting into Erotica.  But thanks I will think more about this BOB.

I've been a boxer for a couple of year and found it very worthwhile when trying to get started in a new genre or topic.  It is hard to get more recent books when trading with other boxers but sometimes you'll get a good surprise.  A couple of things you might want to keep in mind if you start boxing.  (These are only my opinions based on my experiences while boxing.)

  1. Generally it's not worth it to box for less than 3 book because of the change in postage rates.
  2. Boxes may take longer to arrive because of the media/book rate or whatever the PO is calling it these days.
  3. Keep a variety of book types on your shelf  when trading to help attract boxers.
  4. People who read a particular genre are not as likely to trade in that same are because they want to KEEP all their books.  A better bet for trades is someone who fell over a book and want to get it off their shelf !  (Speaking as one who has six foot high stacks of books in my house that I won't trade! )

$8 annually is only $.66 per month.
