This book should be required reading for anyone contemplating adding a parrot to their family. Not only is this the tale of Joanna Burger's with Tiko, she is able to use her training and experience as an ornithologist and professor of biology at Rutgers University to bring insight into the nuances of avian behavior that confuse many owners of pet birds. Weaving professional experiences into her personal tale, she has created a beautiful and well-rounded tribute to these amazing and glorious creatures.

Have you ever wondered whether you train your pets, or whether they might just have you trained? This is the story of a brilliant parrot who DID have his owner trained. She never doubted: The parrot owned her. A fascinating read.

This is such a delightful book. It is very informative regarding how to take care of parrots, but the story of the relationship between the parrot and Joanna is absolutely enchanting. Could not put it down.
