I don't think that book 2 was as good as the first book, but nevertheless, I enjoyed ir and finished it very quickly. Seems like there could possibly be a third book in the works?! The ending left the door open for it. The book was just not as exciting for me as the first. There was tons of sex but no real passion. In the first book, Darious was very cocky, but really cute about it to some extent. In this book, he's just plain obnoxious and arrogant. I almost got the feeling that the Ms. Russe could not make up her mind if she wanted Darius & Daphne to get back together or not. It was back together, no I hate what you did to me, back together, no I hate what you did to me, etc!!! I was definitely disappointed in book 2! If there is a third, I hope Savannah Russe gets back to the style she had in book 1, and gets rid of Darius!!!!
I loved Beyond the Pale and couldn't wait to read Past Redemption. While I enjoyed this book I felt it was not as good as the first one. The beginning dragged and parts of the story were predictable. Daphne and Darius are wonderful characters and I love their interaction. After a slow start the book picks up. I'm looking forward to reading the Beneath The Skin which is waiting for me on my TBR bookshelf.
This was another great read which I liked just as much, if not more than, Beyond the Pale, the first in the series.
Team Darkwing is starting to become a tightly-knit and efficient group that works well together. And their latest assignment is to track down the individuals responsible for the emergence of the latest party drug called susto, which is causing deaths up and down the club scene. This is not the only thing going on though. There's also Darius, Daphne's ex whom she converted at the end of the last book in order to save his life. But he's quite resentful about it, previously being a vampire hunter and all, and now she's put through the ringer on the relationship front as well. The dynamics between Daphne and Darius only add to the rest of the story, and the mission Team Darkwing is sent out to solve.
I'm anxiously looking forward to book 3 of The Darkwing Chronicles. Too bad it's not coming out until February 2007.

I've enjoyed reading all of the books in this series. I don't like Russe nearly as well as some of the other author's of vampire stories but the books are good.
From the author's web site:
If you passed Daphne Urban on the streets of New York, you'd see a sleek young brunette dressed to kill. You'd never know she was a vampire. But the government knows.
Their ultimatum: Spy for the United States, or be terminated. And after all these centuries, Daphne is not ready to call it quits . . .
The word is out on Susto. It's a new recreational drug that intensities sex, it's spreading like wildfire--and it's lethal. Team Darkwing's mission: Track the drug back to its origin. Immersing themselves in New York City's nightlife, they soon discover ties between Susto's billions in revenue and the country's most powerful political dynasty.
To infiltrate the family, Daphne flirts with its weakest link, handsome party boy St. Julien Fitzmaurice, whom she'd love to casually sink her teeth into. But even as their dalliance leads her deeper into the case, Daphne can't stop thinking about Darius, the darkly sexy human she claimed with a passionate bite. He's the bad boy she knows she should--she must--forget, because if she doesn't, she'll be risking not only the mission, but her own heart . . .
Daphne Urban is a young vampire, and the US wants her to spy for them or be termintated. There is a new recreational drug, Susto, spreading through New York nightlife. Soon there is evidence of ties between Susto's billions in revenue and the country's most powerful political dynasty.
