Pathfinders are people who successfully negotiate the normal, predictable crises of living and who surmount life's accidents--loss of a loved one, divorce, being fired, a physical setback, a financial reverse....To explore, distill and explain the process of pathfinding, the author spent four and half years researching and writing this book. 60 thousand men and women completed her extensive Life HIstory Questionnaire. She crossed 38 states and interviewed hundreds of people of all ages and backgrounds to winnow out the true pathfinders, people who come through an adult passage or crisis in a creative and expanding way, who are willing to take risks and who do not fear change. Through vivid and dramatic portraits, analyses, and examples, GS explains and illustrates how all of us can become pathfinders in our own lives. Pathfinders is a work that ennobles the spirit, one of those rare books that can profoundly change your life.« less
This book was first published in 1981, but it is still a timely book for today in "Overcoming the Crises of Adult Life and Finding Your Own Path to Well-Being." It is very informative and helpful, as is her book, "Passages."
