Patrick Maher (born in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1965) is an American writer. He permanently left the United States in 1995 and produced his first and only major work to date in Kitakyushu, Japan.

Maher's literary novel, Candid Confessions, reached #1 on Amazon Japan's best seller list and was the third best selling foreign literary novel with Amazon.com Japan in 2001. The novel received a very positive review from Male Pig's Magazine [1].

In May 2008, Patrick Maher announced that he was writing a book with a setting split between his hometown of East Grand Rapids, Michigan and Bangkok, Thailand. The main character of the novel "turns to his recollections of the sounds, sights and voices of Gaslight Village" for strength.

Maher attended the The Hill School from 1986-1987 before dropping out and returning to East Grand Rapids High School. He attended Skidmore College from 1987-88 but agreed to leave after being formally cited for improper behavior. He also attended summer school at Northfield Mount Hermon in 1979.

Maher received a BA degree from Albion College and an MA degree in the United States. He has lived in Michigan, New York, Los Angeles, South Korea, Japan, and Thailand. He currently lives in seclusion in an undisclosed location in his private residence in SE Asia.
