I am getting very tired of book listings that do not meet the conditions standards at http://www.paperbackswap.com/help/search.php?terms=condition.

I have had to add a note to my own conditions about highlighting/underlining not being acceptable (unless it is a textbook). But if someone rejects my request because of my conditions, their book goes right back into circulation. This seems to be a problem with the system, as well as with the people who are not paying attention to the rules (or ignoring them).

Are you marking the books as RWAP?

Most people (at least 98% of the people I've dealt with) send out books in postable condition.

I'm sorry you've had a run of bad of luck.

ETA - Also, most people reject requests that have RCs just because they don't want to deal with them and not necessarily because they do not meet the RC.

It is amazing how many people do not read the rules and suggestions about PBS.  I've even PM'd new members suggesting that they read the Tips for New Members thread and the rules before sending if not posting.  I also add in a welcome to it!

ETA - Actually, what I've done is welcome them and then made the above suggestions saying that it would make things clearer for them.  Some have PM'd me back.  All good.  Nothing like appointing oneself the welcome committee. ;D

I have to second what Amy said...just because someone declines to send you a book for RC's does not mean that their book doesn't meet PBS conditions...many just turn down books just because their is an RC, not for what the RC states thus, you can't automatically assume that it is a bad book.

"I have had to add a note to my own conditions about highlighting/underlining not being acceptable (unless it is a textbook)"

Basically because the requestor's condition was something like this as well as a second blurb about meeting PBS guidelines.

I don't remember where it is stated but a small amount of writing (such as a name) on the inside cover or first page is allowed and it wasn't worth the effort of PMing or taking a chance of getting a RWP for an interpretation of this rule.

Remember the other blurb about requestor's condition is that you HAVE to return the credit if you accept their conditions and they RWP it for that reason.

So this would be an example of a book that meets PBS guidelines but not a requestor's condition.
