Does any use this a lot to have noticed how their Tracking is working? I just printed a label to send a bad book back to someone and when I click on the tracking link it says that the number cannot be tracked on usps.com. Did I really just pay 0.19 for a worthless tracking barcode that isn't trackable anywhere???? The book is media mail so it should be a "paid" label and not the "free" one included on a first class package.

I don't want to sent the book without tracking, but I don't want to pay again for something I already paid for.

While not PayPal Postage, I have used eBay Shipping to send a few parcels since the USPS change. All have had zero problems within the USPS system. All were immediately accepted by the USPS branch office, (including several sent from a branch which is notorious around here for being obnoxiously hard to work with). All showed up in the USPS tracking database within a couple of hours of being scanned at the USPS branch. And, all were scanned throughout their journey through the USPS to delivery. As to what service was used, some were Priority, some were First Class, one was Express and two were Media Mail.

One thing about tracking... Just your printing the label doesn't instantly send it to the USPS database for immediate viewing. In fact, until the bar code is actually scanned by a USPS employee along its journey, the best you might see is a notice that the USPS has received information that a bar code has been created, but no additional information is available about it.

I have used Paypal postage since the change. No problems. (I think it's 20 cents now, though.)

It might be the timing -- haven't tried checking the tracking immediately after printing the label.

Yes,I know it isn't for immediate viewing, but it usually just says that it hasn't been received or that it has received the electronic shipping information.  I got the message that we get with labels we can only track on PBS now days.

Delivery status information is not available for your item via this web site. A return receipt after mailing may be available through your local Post Office.

Sophia - I was charged 19 cents for the tracking.

I wasn't actually meaning to check the tracking, I clicked on it so that I could copy the tracking number into a PM to the person. When I saw that message, I wanted to make sure people were seeing scans on usps.com with PayPal because I don't want to sent the package without tracking.

SInce it sounds like Sophia has used PayPal specifically will no problems, I will send it and hope for the best.

Re: the 19 vs 20 cents: there is a weird bug on Paypal. When you are on the Paypal shipping window it shows 0.19 cents (but the postage is 1 cent more). The Label Record (which prints on the same page as the label) shows 20 cents. The USPS site says eDC now costs 20 cents.

Hope Paypal shipping worked for you, Melanie.

They show that they only charged me 0.19, but its the way they list the rates goofy. They say they are charging 2.99MM postage + .19DC when they are really charging 2.98 (the real MM rate)+ 0.20DC.

It takes a few hours to update on the USPS website. The message you got is what I now get sending and receiving packages via PayPal for the first few or more hours.

Since the change, none of my USPS tracking numbers have worked. The tracking numbers for books I've sent out 2 or 3 weeks ago have yet to show any information on them. It does seem that the USPS change does a few glitches and it's annoying to pay extra for a service that doesn't work well. How do you get tracking via paypal?
