Today when I took books to the post office, the dc didn't scan and had to be entered manually. The clerk said it they don't scan at the other end, a charge may be added... does that sound right?? |

I've never heard of that. I use PBS DC all the time, and once or twice a book I sent got to its destination without any scans at all. I've had a couple come to me that were never scanned even though they had DC as well. I've never heard of an additional charge. |

That sounds backwards. If they don't scan it on delivery, they are not providing the service you paid for (Delivery Confirmation) and you should be able to take your receipt in and get the 0.19 back. |

what I meant by not scan is that they have to key in the numbers |

They're going to charge you for having to enter it in manually!? Wow, how could there even be a charge for a computer malfunction? I think that sounds like baloney. Maybe he meant something else.... |

Don't think it was a malfunction, the code was light...but completely readable...(getting low on ink). |

I just mean malfunction in that the scanner can't read it. Not that the computer was reading it wrong. Last Edited on: 7/27/10 12:45 AM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

No Adrienne, I've not heard of charging extra for a manual entry. An unfortunate number of USPS clerks are not adequately trained. Fortunately, a different employee will process your package at the other end |

Sounds like he was just trying to scare you into changing your ink cartridge. never heard of them charging to enter in the numbers manually. |
