I just printed out the wrapper with printable postage and a tracking number (which was not cheap by the way),pbs system cancels the books before I was ready to mark them mailed! Is there a way for them to reactive this bc I've already paid postage and everything when the canceled my order? Either that or I want my money refunded. I did not think it was possible for a requestor to cancel after the sender has accepted. Click "Contact Us" at the bottom of this page and explain the situation to the Team. |

Orders are cancelled automatically if you don't click "Mailed" about 7 days after you accepted the order. The order has no doubt rolled to the next sender, and it may even be mailed, so not likely to be reinstated. PBS may refund your postage, as a goodwill gesture, but the money goes to the USPS, so if they did that it would be out of their own pocket, for your mistake. If you look on your Books To Be Mailed page, over on the right side, it always tells you the date the order will be cancelled if it isn't marked mailed. This is just one reason why I mark books mailed right after I print the wrappers and package up the books. Sometimes PBS is unavailable, for example, and you don't want to get caught when the site is down for maintenance, knowing that you need to mark books mailed right away before the order is cancelled. |

What Sara said. How long after the request was accepted that you printed out the postage? . |

You need to pay attention to deadlines.

It timed out. I've already tried contacting the team and they never responded. This site has just become money hungry. |

I don't think the site is money hungry because you let a book time out. I know for me, just me, it does kind of bother me when I want a WL book, the label is printed and then it times out. At that point I do want to be returned back to my place in line. The other way, a person can take weeks to mail a book (if there wasn't a deadline) and that isn't fair either. It just doesn't seem right blaming PBS for not meeting a deadline...imo |

Jamie, now I understand that you did not click mailed in time and the request timed out. The postage money goes to the Post office. PBS gets some money from the 55¢ printing fee. It's like buying a movie ticket, if you do not go to the theater at the scheduled time they do not give you a refund. I have heard of people bringing the postage wrapper to the Post Office and asking for a refund. |

I always pick the last date possible to mail (because life can take over) and get to the Post Office as soon as I can. I mark it mailed before I walk out the door. Yes, please pay attention to the dates and MARK YOUR BOOK MAILED! I have been receiving a lot of Pm's from members in regards to this. I am believing they are timing themselves out. |

I must admit, I've never understood why, when a member has used PBS postage they don't mail it right away...you can put it with your outgoing mail or drop it in a big blue box, it's not like you have to take it to the post office. Why use PBS postage and then not mark it mailed and take advantage of the ease of mailing it from home? |

Where I live, mail carriers don't take outgoing mail. But, yeah. It's really easy. Though I have been slightly delayed by blizzards, flu, etc. But barring an emergency, I basically just walk one block. Also: PBS has the 48 hour rule, which people like the above poster should take advantage of so as not to lose out. |

I cannot put this package in the blue box if I wanted too. It was for 12 books and the box would be too large. |

Well, the information you need to pay attention to is on your Books to Mail tab on your My Account page. I have one book I need to mail, and this is what it shows: I will mail this by: 4/23/2015 11:00 PM ET
Wrapper Last Printed: 4/20/2015 6:29 PM ET
and Please note: In order to receive book credits, you must click below by 4/25/2015 11:00 PM ET or you will not receive credits. |

I use PBS postage, but we have cluster boxes, so we can't put outgoing mail in it. It's a slot for letters only, not packages. So I can print the postage, but it still has to be taken to a blue box. We have one car, and I have my husband take it to the PO on his way to work. That's where the big blue boxes are; in their parking lots. If it's a larger box, he takes it inside and puts it in the dropbox. I use PBS postage because I live in a large city and it's a royal pain to stand in line at the post office listening to people complain about the lines or something else. I print the postage and always get it mailed before the deadline, usually within a couple of days. So there are reasons why it isn't mailed immediately, but it's always mailed in a few days. |
