I'm not a reader of graphic novels, but I found this story surprisingly effective. OK, I'm a softie. I cried. It may well be that some editing was done to clarify the storyline, but the facts about all the participants are incontestable. After you've read the book, Google "pedro zamora image," push the button for full list and find his last picture.

Fantastic story, well written and illustrated! Insight into the life of some early "reality tv" stars. Great intro to AIDS education, and a beautiful story of a hero's struggle.
Winick's illustrations are on-point and evocative. I dare any reader not to have a tear in his eye by the end.
