I'm rather amazed that this set of two tapes hasn't been snapped up. The poetry itself is, of course, some of the most beautiful ever written in English, but in addition, the professional, trained voices of those reading are superb. One can listen to these tapes over and over not only without the slightest diminution of enjoyment, but with greatly increasing pleasure as one becomes more familiar with the works recited.
In ancient times one never really "read" poetry, but listened to it being read out loud by others or by one's self. There was significant value in that, value that is lost when one is confined to the silent reading of verbally delicious poetry. On these tapes the owner can relish not only the intellectual conceits of the poets, but also the sensuous pleasures of the sounds of their words.
