An absolute delight for the armchair traveler! The pen and ink drawings let your imagination fill in the details with descriptions like these:

"This is an ideal spot to daydream or relax with an intriguing book and a glass of local wine...The guest parlor offers a variety of collections, including toys and books from the '20s, '30s and '40s." p. 32

"For more than 80 years the native limestone structure has provided safe haven and rest for tourists and travelers alike....This is a good place to relax on one of the many porches, verandahs and gardens in the trademark rocking chairs." p. 236

"The 1800s log cabin has 2 bedrooms decorated with antiques, with a rustic but elegant decor.....A full country breakfast of farm-fresh eggs, apple-smoked bacon, assorted juices, season fresh fruit, banana nut pancakes, hash browns and pretty darm good coffee await you each morning." p. 237

"...a unique English country manor...the house presents an exotic contrast to its rustic surrounds, with its many gables, buttressed porch towers and Gothic trimmings.....Allegheny Mountain trout or local country-style sausage and red potatoes. Home-baked muffins are stuffed with fresh berries or apples in season." p. 366

Ratings are given in paw prints (make you think of the movie, The Lake House?) such as 3 paws, 4 paws or 5 paws.
