Philip Joseph Deloria is a historian, the son of Vine Deloria, Jr., and the great-great grandson of Philip Joseph Deloria, or Tipi Sapa (Black Lodge), for whom he is named. He received his Ph.D. in American Studies from Yale University in 1994. Deloria is currently a professor at the University of Michigan in both the Program in American Culture and the Department of History.
