Nyle and her grandmother live peacfully on their farm- untill the night of the accident at the Cookshire nucular plant. Suddenly there are protective masks, evacuations, contaminated food. Nyle has barely adjusted when Gran takes in two survivors.

A beautiful story. Very sad.
When I first read this I think I was in 6th grade or so, and didn't really understand the theme of love, but whether taken at surface level, the events caused by radioactive poisoning,or at an emotional level, its a great read.
