I am new here and have mailed out 5 books this past week that all were in like new condition.  I have a hard time letting go of books that are more loved.

I received two items this week and both of them were not re postable so I asked for my credit back.

One had water stains on every page and rips

The other had writing with pen (like a child had done it) on one of the story pages and ripped pages.

I did get my credits back but now I am wondering if I am just too picky or were these really just bad swaps.

Absolutely not!   Water stains and writing are against the condition guidelines.  So don't feel bad, you did the correct thing, and welcome to my obsession.

You definitely did the right thing!  and I'm so sorry you had two problem transactions right away.  Hopefully, your run is over.  Welcome to PBS!

First, welcome, and no you're not too picky.  Glad you got your credits back.  Fortunately, (at least in my case) we don't get too many of those, and when we report them as RWAP they eventually get weeded out.  Good luck.  Pat

Welcome to PBS.

Not too picky at all.   Everything you mentioned makes them non-postable.  You did the right thing and they were just bad swaps.  I am the same way I have trouble letting go of my books, but as time has gone by it is easier. So far only 1 was a RWAP....but it wasn't as bad as yours - there was wax all over the back cover and it was readable - I am slowly scrapping off and the book is looking ok so far.  I did not plan on reposting it - so it wasn't as big of deal but it didn't give me an option.  But it has staining and made it non -postable the way it was.

I am sorry this happened to you so early in your membership - I hope all your other swaps are smooth.

If you expected to only receive books in basically brand new condition then I would say yes you are too picky for PBS. But it is not too picky to expect books to be in postable condition. Now sometimes you will receive borderline books that will end their postability with you. Every book eventually reaches it's last person as a postable book adn sometimes that's you. But it's not too picky to expect books to not have stains, writing or loose pages because those are the PBS rules.
