Michaels serves up a heart-pounding romantic thriller in which what starts out as an adventure turns into an ordeal. Pediatrician Lorrie Ryan is looking forward to taking her young hemophiliac nephew, Davey, camping while his parents fly to Florida. The family has been under FBI protection because Davey's father is testifying for the prosecution in a case involving a murdered student and a drug syndicate. Lorrie is glad to spend time alone with the boy because her sister seems more mothering of her professor husband than her son, and Davey is glad to be with Aunt Lorrie because she lets him be himself rather than try to conform to his mother's rigid standards. But their idyll is brief: Davey disappears. Lorrie calls the police and FBI agent Stuart Sanders, and she and Stuart unite in their search for the missing boy, who needs his daily injections. As fast paced and exciting as always

Very great on the edge book. A young hemophilia boy trying to escape a mean man that he saw bury a body. Very smart and strong young boy aside from him illness. davey went on a trip with his Aunt Lorrie and wandered off. He got ran for cover, only to end up in the mean man's trailer. Sweating and hurting, he stayed quiet until he couldn't take any more. He manages to escape to get caught in the end. FBI agent and his aunt are looking for him.
Very quick and interesting read.

Well -Paced suspense

Fairly predictable, although a 7 year old hemopheliac as his own hero is pretty innovative. A high percentage of characters I didn't like, but that little tyke sure grows on you.

from amazon...

The FBI provides protection to murder witness Montclair College Professor Andrew Ryan from a drug cartel that killed a student Jason Forbes. While Andrew and his spouse Sara head to Florida, her sister Lorrie takes their seven years old son Davey camping. Davy looks forward to the trip because his aunt allows his freedom to be himself while his mother disapproves of him perhaps because of his hemophiliac condition.

Cudge Balog kills his best friend Lenny Lombardi when the man tries to collect a debt. Cudge and his girlfriend Elva St. John start to bury the body at the Wild Adventure Campground, but Davey sees them. Cudge goes after the child who flees. Lorrie, worried that her nephew is missing calls the police. FBI Agent Stuart Sanders, who has been assigned to the Ryan family, arrives at the campgrounds. He and Lorrie already attracted to one another, work together to rescue a child in need of daily medicine for his condition.

The suspense is very high as the clock ticks away not just because of the Cudge factor but also because of the needed dose of medication. Fern Michaels' fans will appreciate the lead duet though they are cut out of the hero handbook pro-am teaming and the little boy starving for affection, but hiss at the interesting tundra-like mother (who is conveniently eliminated) and the father who acquiesces to all her demands at the cost of their child's welfare. Cudge is a dumb thug while Elva, whose name she took in homage to Elvis, is frightened of him. Quite different from the Texas-Kentucky-Vegas triangle, Ms. Michaels' readers will enjoy this thriller.

First book by her and wasn't really all that impressed. Not much romance and the secondary characters were really unrealistic, in my opinion. I guess there are people like that in the world but I've never met any. Skimmed through parts of it but was able to finish so it was okay but not great.
