I received a book that I had sent out back. The sticker states "Undeliverable as addressed unable to forward." I verified the address that is in the PBS system to the address on

the package and they are exactly the same. I won't be able to get to the post office til next Sat. to inquire why it was undeliverable...I sent a note to the requestor for verification of address, but I'm sure

she didn't put the wrong address in the system...So how does this get resolved? I already paid $2.41 to send the book. I don't want to be out additional cost to try to resend it.

Has anyone else had this happen? How was it resolved?

Eve

Addresses in PBS are USPS verified so the address would be a valid address, the question will be why the package came back. Sometimes the USPS just screws up. If that ends up being the case, you should be able to take it back and tell them the address is correct, you've confirmed it, and they should send it back without charging you again.

You will want to wait until you hear back from the other member. If they moved and didn't bother to update the information, ask them for another credit to re-send. If you don't hear back from them in a week, then you could send in Feedback and let the Team know that the other member isn't responding. They will prompt the other member to take care of the problem and it will also give them notice that there is an issue so that when the lost date comes, they may deem the account inactive and mark the book received.

If nothing develops from contact with the requester, then you will need to just post the book to your bookself again.

Yes - but not necessarliy that particular person's address.  Generally, the Not Deliverable As Addressed endorsement is SUPPOSED to mean that the person has moved from the address more than 18 months ago.  We no longer have access to their new information in the database, so can no longer forward their mail.  Media mail IS forwardable, but at an additional cost to the recipient.  You also should have been charged postage due when it was returned to you.

Some mail carriers use the NDAA endorsement for everything.  It will not be possible for the local PO to tell you why it was delivered, unless there is another endorsement on the package as well.  The best thing would be to wait for a response from the person who should have received the book.  If they say that is their correct and complete address, then take it back to the PO, and ask to have it sent again.  It SHOULD be possible for them to send the package without any further charge.  If you can print out a copy of the PM stating the address is correct, it may help you.
