I first met the player Joliffe in the author's Dame Frevisse mystery series, and then discovered that he had his own series of medieval mysteries. All of this author's mysteries are well-researched for the society as well as the politics of the period. There is also an on-going mystery (never completely explained)about the backgrounds of the main characters Joliffe and Dame Frevisse and how they came to their main occupations of actor/playwright and nun. Highly recommended for people who like mysteries and/or novels set in medieval England.
