I'm trying to remember a book series that I read 10 years ago and I can't remember the tile or author. So, PBS members you are my only hope! Here's what I remember:

*It's about a strange school

*They do math with letters instead of numbers

*There's a teacher that is super scary

*Students can get lost in the hallways

"Sideways Stories from Wayside School" by Louis Sachar? Or some variation of that series that he wrote. I remember reading it too, and I think that (or another book in the series) is what you're thinking about. Hope this helps!

The Sideways Arithmetic from Wayside School books (I think the second was called More Sideways Arithmetic from Wayside School) definitely had math with letters instead of numbers. :)
