This group is starting to be overrun by posts offering deals, looking for books, etc. Althoug technically ALL deal related posts are supposed to be kept in the book bazaar, by general consensus this group has three ongoing threads set aside for wish list offers, looking-for-books and deals. Please keep your trading related posts to those threads. It's getting harder and harder to find the actual content here. |

Do you think it would be possible to get a sticky for this forum's rules? That would be awesome, since no one uses the one sticky we actually have...Like an L and R Constitution! Ha. |

Actually I think we were doing pretty well with people not doing separate posts for deals until recently. It seems like in the past week there have been many. Unfortunately, the people posting the deals in this forum are getting responses, which encourages more people to do it. If we all agreed NOT to respond to separate deal posts in this forum (or at least not to respond positively), the posts should just sink to the bottom of the page, right? |

I agree, if you let them drop they will. I know that I use the 3 main ones we have and love that we do it. I would hate to seet his thread filled up with only deals. The thing is that the people posting them are not people that hang out here much. |

I think good discussions still happen on this forum Gayle. A lot of it may take place in the weekly "What are you reading" thread though. But a sticky at the top for some forum rules would be a good thing. And yes - it's easier to not respond to those posts and perhaps just PM those folks to go find the correct posts. |

This happened in the mystery, chick-lit and paranormal forums too. I'm not sure why everyone started posting deals and sales in the forums but it sure did pick up. Maybe they weren't getting the response they wanted in the BB? Someone posted a thread like this one in the mystery forum and it was ignored too. *sigh* Maybe if we fill the forums with fun threads and ignore the bad threads, the people will come back. I don't post a ton unless I have something say (unlike in RL where I speak out all the time regardless of the content, lol) but I love reading the posts from everyone and I've picked up some great new authors. |

Quoting Doughgirl (Lynne J.): "Unfortunately, the people posting the deals in this forum are getting responses, which encourages more people to do it." I had never read this in the rules until today about only posting in the deals thread. Sorry for posting my deal outside of the deals thread. I had just seen other people had posted their deals and so I thought it was okay, especially because those people got responses. I just made a mistake and have now corrected it and updated myself on the rules. Sorry if I made anyone upset over this. I also enjoy good conversation among the forums and would hate to get kicked off here because of an incident like this. |

I noticed, Pam, and I really should have inboxed you or something and let you know. So sorry. I have no excuse, I've just been really busy lately:P Hopefully nobody's feelings are hurt when something is said. There are nothing but good intentions behind the reminders, and it's just one of those things that comes up every once in a while:) I admit that I read and was familiar with this rule when I first started posting in the PBS forums - but hey, don't anybody let that make ya feel bad. I'm so anal about doing something dumb and looking like a total nincompoop, it's almost a miracle I do as much posting as I do:P |
