This is the 2nd time this has happened.

On each seperate occasions with 2 different members..........I do a deal here and get 3 books for 1 credit........my order gets canceled by the sender and it automatically goes to a member i didn't have a deal with.So now i am getting 1 book for 1 credit ,not the deal i wanted.

Please read the rules ,it says you need to contact the requestor if you cannot send the book(s) because of RC.....let the requestor cancel the order.........according to the rules posted on this forum, it causes confusion and dissapointment...........in this case 2 times for me.

My only RC is that the book be from a non smoking home.......

I found that out as a sender.  I couldn't find the books, so I cancelled. The next day found it, and the person reordered.  She told me a week later that she got 2 copies of the book she ordered.  I did offer to give her a credit, because to me it wasn't right for her to lose the credit due to my error.

The first time i contacted the sender that my order automatically sent to and told them what happened, but they didn't want to cancel and shipped the book to me instead.

I contacted the sender it was automatically sent to this time also, but not really thinking they would cancel, but thought i'd try anyway.

It was very nice of you to offer her the credit .I think the system should alert  you to the canceled transaction and allow you to decide if you want to continue with the purchase with another member.Just like when a WL book comes available, its yoru turn and you have a specific time to respond,it should work similar to that.

A lot of people don't know that if they cancel, the request will go FIFO.

Plus I'm not sure people even have the ability to PM until they have accepted the swap.

Don't expect people to know all the rules..  They are doing their best but some things are not obvious to others.

I try not to ever request a deal without asking about my RCs first.

If you don't have time to do that, send a seperate PM asking them not to cancel, to let you cancel.

These things I have learned the hard way!!!

Never make assumptions here.

As far as not knowing all the rules..........it clearly says to read first before using the forum.

Its not going to go smoothly unless we all know the rules and follow them......they are there for a reason.

I will from now on be sure about my  RC with a sender before placing an order ....

When I read the rules, it says people can't even PM you until they accept the swap.

  • When you submit a request with your RCs active, the other member will see your message in a white box on the request.
    • He or she will have the option to:
      • accept by clicking
      • or decline by clicking
      • or decline by clicking
      • There is no option to send a Personal Message from the request without accepting first.

I have made the mistake myself plus I have had this done to me.  Just be sure to PM people.

Again, don't assume people read the rules.  That's why I put "no liquid damage" in my RC because it happened too many times, even though it's clearly stated it's not allowed.

I imagine there are some people that have swapped for years that have never been to the discussion boards.

Again, never make any assumptions.   Once I stopped assuming people knew what was going on,  I was much happier.  :-)

Something that happened to me that people should thing about is not accepting the order and printing the label for a deal until you check to make sure you have all of the books.  I placed a Bazaar order with someone offering a deal, they marked to accept and printed the label, then told me to pick other books because they didn't have several of them.  I could no longer cancel the order, and had to pick books I really didn't want.  This is why I pull the books before I accept a request.

Denise...i copied your comment above that i am refering to ........

I am only referring to those that trade here on Bazaar..both times it happened to me  it was members that i traded with here.

Also when we get the deals here...we usually post on that thread saying which we ordered and which we wanted in addition. So the sender know who they should pm if there is a problem.

I also ...always pm that person with the books i order and the ones i want in addition.

Thats why it says in the post on this forum that you should contact the requester and have them cancel.....i don't think it would say that unless there would be a way to do so.

I think PBS assume others will read the rules before using the forum that why they posted them.

It's happened to me once too, which is why I always add a little note with my order PM stating that:  "I have an RC and it states: "______" .  If this is a problem, please PM me and let me know so that I can cancel from my side to avoid the order "rolling over" to another member."

After I started doing it this way, I haven't had another problem with a cancellation roll-over.  It takes a few extra seconds, but to me, it's worth it.

Another tip:  After a offer is accepted, BEFORE THE LABEL IS PRINTED, I click the PM button to make absolutely sure that the book order is with the same person.   You don't have to finish the PM, just check the name.   If it's the wrong name, cancel the transaction immediately.

Of course, this will only work if the new person doesn't print the label immediately.  It's too late then.

I have saved myself some grief by doing this.

I have gotten pretty cranky myself when this has happened, anyone would be.   This site is teaching me patience, believe me.
