This was a historica fiction from the 90's....probably '94 or so. The Hero's name was Hunter....but I think Hunter was his middle name and I want to say his official 1st name was Matthew. He had dark/black hair and violet eyes (yes...I know) The Heroine's name was Lara or Lauranne or something along those lines.

The plot is... (as best I can remember)

10 (or so) years before her father ( who was an asshole ) sent her by ship to be married but her ship was pirated by the very sexy (but very improbably) violet eyed Hunter because her father had caused him to be transported somewhere nasty and sexy Hunter was seeking revenge. The extremely innocent Heroine (whatever the hell her name is) disembarked his ship unkowningly pregnant. She proceeded to marry her intended and passed her child off as his. Lady What's-Her-Face's hubby dies which leaves her son as the new ( I think ) Earl of Something-Or-Other. Her Inlaws knew or suspected her son was illegitimate and kidnapped him in order to claim the inheritance.

So....off goes our Heroine to enlist the help of Captain Sexy ( I'm almost positive he was Creole and had a plantation in Louisiana ) He is ( of course ) very distrustful of her and she is of him. In the course of trying to find their son, she finds out that the sexy Captain is also the manly version of Fertile Myrtle and had twin daughters, one was named Nanette and I forget the other ( maybe Lysette?... both ended with "-ette" ) but one twin died.  Other detail become blurry but one scene I distinctly remember was after much heavy breathing, petting and other good stuff when it comes down to brass tacks our Heroine is terrified of being impregnated by more Super Swimmers so Mr. Love-Of-Her-Life whips out some Old School condoms ( which of course she has no clue about ) so they can get busy without her worrying.

Conclusion is.....they find their son ( of course.. ) She eventually discovers his proper name is actually "LORD" Super-Sexy / High Sperm Count / Manly-Violet Eyed Hunter. They find their son....decide to live lustfully together as Man and Wife on his Creole plantation.....and of course you knew the Old School hats failed and she is expecting Baby #2.

So...HAHAHAHA!!....I tried to make it funny but it really was a good book and even though I can see the yummy cover if I close my eyes I siimply can't remember the title. HELP!!

You can try these places as well.   AbeBooks BookSleuth, Amazon's Askville, and Barnes & Noble Book Clubs: Lost Books are all good places to start.  These are simple forums where other users play name that book

Doesn't sound familiar here. If you are on Goodreads you might try asking at the Bodice Rippers Anonymous group. Those gals have read them all. The Smart Bitches, Trashy Books blog also has a feature they call Help a Bitch Out (HABO), that might get some suggestions.

It sure sounds like one of those old Frank Yerby novels!
