A book in the Deathlands series. A band of friends in a post-apocalyptic world run into a left-over from the old world, namely what looks to be some 1800's United States Cavalry troops. But all is not as it seems...
If you like this series, you'll like this book. Hard to follow if you haven't read the earlier books, but they're mostly action fun, so it shouldn't be too big of a problem.

The book continues to follow ryan cawdor and his band of post-holocaust survivors as they arrive in New Mexico with a regiment of pony soldiers. All these series of books are a great read. They grow on you.
