nonono

Twice in the last few days, when I click to go to my account, I have gotten a full-page Amazon pop-up.

Obnoxious as this is, if I close the screen using the upper right hand corner, I completely exit everything.

How might I (omitting the string of forbidden obscenities that are the first, second, and third impulses I have) let the most high ones at PBS how much I think they are over-extending their authority here?

John,

PBS doesn't have pop-up ads.  You'll have a pop-up window when you post/receive a book asking if you're sure and a couple of other places.  You might want to run a malware scanner and your virus scanner.

Well, there has been that blinky ad added to the side of some pages.  I'm wondering if hovering over that might be triggering John's trips.

Anytime you want to "let the high one" know anything you send in Feedback. But this is your own computer having problems, it is not a PBS enforced advertising problem. You have something malicious on your machine and should do as Mary said and run a malware and virus scanner.

Other than the PBS operational screens (such as printing labels), I've never had a pop up at PBS (certainly not for any third party sources).  The problem would seem to be on your end.

Whatever you say/think. wink

But I do not believe for a second that there is any malware in exitence that brings up a full-page ad for Amazon.

I will be careful when hovering over anything on the right side of the page, though.

Well John, then PBS has decided to target only you with their ads. Do you think that is more likely than malware that brings up a full-page ad for Amazon?

Malware wants you to click on what they are showing you. What do you think someone  is more likely to click on, an Amazon ad or a full page ad saying Click Here So I Can Install a Nasty Virus On Your Machine? The ad is just a cover to get you to click.

I had to change the settings on my mouse, as hovering would click on buttons or open new pages after an update. That was a preference issue, not malware. But it was very frustrating until I figured it out.

We are blameless here, folks.  We do not do popup ads like that.  We have a healthy belief in malware, as should all of you.  John, we hope you find and squash the source.  :)

When there is that Amazon ad on the side of the front page I have issues with the site on my phone.  If I miss clicking a link on the front page and click the white space a new window opens to Amazon.  It only happens when the ad is there and only on this site.

I see it on the side of the home page when I'm on my computer. (Mac, with Firefox) I don't see it on my tablet. What really bugs me is that it is a blinky ad. It moves. Really bothers me to see it out the side of my browser window. I an SO NOT A FAN of that ad.

Do you stay logged in?  It's on the side of the home page with the log in.  Blinking.

If you are not logged in, there are ads on the side of the home page. If you are logged in they disappear.
