I can't say this was my favorite Scarpetta novel. She was more of an observer in this one rather than a an active participant. For the story line I can see why that was necessary, but I don't like my strong, resourceful, smart role model as well in those types of circumstances. Overall an interesting plot with discussions of surveillance equipment and weapons that I'm sure are not only possible but probable. The descriptive, grisly details found in Jack's hide-a-way made me glad, once again, that I'm a reader and free to imagine as much of that as I need to without over doing it as so much of visual media does.

Someone gave me this book and I was very happy since I've been a fan since day one. I would get the books and read them through in one night. After trying desperately to get into the story, I checked reviews and saw it was not just me. Eek! There is no plot, the regulars are all over the place and I had to force myself to finish it. This will be the last Cornwell book for me. In my opinion, her writing has drastically declined over the years.

Not as good as all the others in the Kay Scarpetta Series but will still keep the reader on the edge of their chair.
