to someone's WL. What happens when it times out? Will it go to FIFO or will it be no longer posted?

Thanks,

Deanna

Yuppers, FIFO.

ETA - does anyone know a way to stop this?  Would it work to put your account on hold just before the transaction times out?  I could see how this could be a problem if a friend has power outages due to (yet more) winter storms...and the sender cannot cancel until the request is accepted by somebody.

I think - mind think - that you put your shelf on hold.  I had one that I posted in error and it was a WL book.  I had to cancel it three times and was told I could have stopped it by putting my shelf on hold.  I'm assuming that would work for all things.

How do you post something directly to someone's WL anyway?

You just need to use the "Post This Book" button on the specific member's WL that you're posting to.
Look just under my name, you can see my Wish List button. You can also access my wish list by looking at my profile.

yes going on hold should do it.  I noticed damage to a WL book I had posted and when the first wisher was about to time out-I put my account on hold and deleted the book after it went on hold with all my other books.

I'm so glad this came up because I was wondering about the posting to someone's WL anyway. So when there are books with WLs, it's 'legal' to post directly to someone else and let them 'jump' the line? I have a great series that I soon want to post but since it's a series, I'm thinking I can save postage and post them to one person but I only would do this if it fits in with the pbs guidelines.

Yes it is "leal" to post directly to someone's wish list.  Many buddy's post their wish list books to each other before putting them into the FIFO lineup.  Also, you can see many deals on the Bazaar where people want to send wish list books as a unit to save on postage.  I believe there is even a permanent thread on that subject.

Sometimes the genre forums will have places where you can post your series WL books as well.  You may get a faster response there, or Kate's right that you can try the Book Bazaar.
