So, I understand why we don't want people posting deals...It clogs up the threads, so to speak.  But how about having one thread specifically for advertising what we have added to our shelf, deals on romance, looking for specific books, etc.?  I think if we confine it to one thread, it would be manageable and wouldn't get in the way of the other threads.

I know that I often have romances that I have just posted, and I would love to be able to tell you gals about them being on my shelf...not just so i can get credits, but so that you can have "first dibs" if you know what i mean.  :o)   Plus, I see on other threads that people are always saying that they have this book or that book, and they offer it to the other person...so I don't see how that is much different.

So what do you think??

We have asked for a "sticky" deal thread several times but for some reason it hasn't happened. I think it would be for more useful than our current sticky thread, which no one seems to use.

Perhaps we could have sticky?  Maybe then all those "deal" people could get it out of their system?

A sticky would be good.  :o)

It's not just about the deals.  Like I said, I know that I have often wanted to let you all know that I have just posted romances on my shelf so you can be the first to have access to them if you want.   but I feel funny posting here that I have just added books and check out my shelf, ect.  So I thought one specific thread would be good.  :o)  That way there is less "traffic" getting in the way of a good discussion thread.

I'm new to this forum but would like to see that as well. I think its more fun to get books from someone you are more familiar with than not. I see them in the other forums. We have one in the Chick-Lit forum.

I think we tried at one point to do a monthly "this is the deal I'm running thread" and as soon as we posted it the "Don't post deals in this forum thread was bumped up" and it sort of petered out.  So now there are the Is this on your WL or Bookshelf threads.  The idea was to have them all on one monthly thread.  A sticky would be good but then it gets to be 400 pages long w/a whole lot of outdated posts and people who aren't even members anymore.

I never did hear a peep back from R&R about this before.  I'll try them again.  A sticky thread would be very nice, I agree.

Well, that was fast, I got a response already.  Here's the official word from R&R on deal posts:

"Thanks for your feedback. We do have it on our list to have a stickied topic in each Genre Discussion Forum for deals. Until then, members will need to confine posts and topics advertising their books, bookshelves or deals to the Book Bazaar."

So, looks like it's on their list of stuff to do but not at the moment.

A sticky post I think would be helpful is one for Upcoming Release ISBNs, like they do in the Paranormal thread - help each other get on the wishlist sooner.

Well, since we have a weekly thread about what books we are reading, how about something like a monthly thread on deals, etc.?  Like "March Book Deals" or something like that?  Every month we start a new thread.

Just a thought.  :o)
