One of my teacher friends has a bunch of books in really good condition, but she wrote her last name on the edge of each book.  Would these be postable?

I would post them.  As long as she didn't write on any text pages.

I would also post them.  I remember reading in the guidelines that you can post library books that have a stamp on the edge of the pages. I would consider this the same type of thing.

I would say they're postable. I would NOT pm the requestor--they meet PBS guidelines and if people want books 'above and beyond' the guidelines it is their responsibility to have Requestor Conditions stating as such.

guess I with the opinions here I will have to add a new RC....while it doesn't hurt the book I would be pissed off to get a book with writing on the edges of the book...simply because it looks ugly.  A remainder mark doesn't bother me but, even in school I wouldn't purchase or use a book with someone's name on the edges...

Yep, Christy, you'll have to add an RC as those are perfectly postable. Been discussed several times that it's no different than a library or BC stamp.

There's absolutely no reason to PM ahead either. Like Christy, if they don't want something that is completely within the rules, that's what RC's are for.
