Hello! I know I'll probably get yelled at by someone for posting this here, but I know that I never check the postage forums, and I thought my paranormal peeps might want to know this. I mailed a bunch of books this morning and because the Media Mail rate went up so much more than First Class rates, it was only $.03 more to send all the books I had First Class instead of Media Mail. I just thought I'd let you guys know because I mailed some yesterday and they didn't tell me that.

:)

I am surprised that PBS isn't using First Class on that weight instead of the Media Mail. I thought they did on the old weights with the nickel difference.

I don't know. I thought they always defaulted to the cheapest, I didn't realize they ever bumped it up to First Class if it cost only a bit more.

No problem! Hey, I'd rather pay the $.03 myself and get my credit that much quicker!  :)

Virginia, what you said is true ONLY for books that weight 10 oz or less because if is over 10 oz then it actually will cost you more. Here is where I found the information:http://www.usps.com/prices/first-class-mail-prices.htm

Yeah, I was mailing all paperbacks. The majority of the ones I mail are 10 oz or less. Thanks for the link though!

The vast majority of books I mail are 6-7 oz paperbacks. The last time media mail went up, the fees were close to first class that I rarely ever use media mail any more.  Since I have few hardbacks or large paperbacks, the only time it really helps me if I'm sending mutliple books. I imagine that will be even more true with the latest increase.
