I print all of my postage from the PBS site. My local post office is really inconvenient for me so I usually drop the packages off at a different post office. I have actually become friendly with the workers there they see me so often. Today, one of the PO workers asked me if I could start marking my packages as being "mailed" from their zip code so that they receive credit for them since I generate such a large volume (?) and the PO is supposed to be cutting back. They think that this will help ensure that their branch will remain open. They did not ask me to change my address - just the PO mailed from. Is there a way to do this??

There is on PayPal, but I don't think PBS has that option. Would be nice for the PO since they do depend on the amount of postage mailed from their PO to regulate the amount of postage and other costs (employment, bldg expense, etc) given TO their PO.

This subject was already covered in the Postal forum, and one of our resident postal people (I believe it was Connie, who is a postmistress) said that this does not really matter.  The way I understood it when she explained it was that what counts is where the postage is purchased, and where the mail is actually collected.

OK dumb question: why are paying the PBS postage fee if you are going to the post office anyway?  It just seems like wasted money to me.

To not have to wait in line?? I use the APC most of the time now, but the wait in the line at the PO is usually over 30min and often near an hour.

I go to the PO because:

My mailbox is tiny. Three or four envelopes and it is full. Most of my packages are from Box of Books and will not fit into the blue boxes. It is also convenient to already have postage on packages so that if someone else is going to the PO they can take them for me and I am famous for putting them into other people's mailboxes (my brother, mother) when I am there. And the lines as stated above. If you already have the postage on the package you do not have to wait in line. You can hand them to someone, leave them on the counter, etc.

Where the mail is ACTUALLY collected is what I am trying to change!
