Hi I have found that when I take a book to the post office, the cost to mail is always at least .20 more than what is printed as a suggested cost.  Same book, packaged lightlly......anyone else?

Hi Joy.

Can you please provide a little more information? Where is the suggested cost from?

Is it possible that you are referring to the 0.19 electronic Delivery Confirmation (eDC) charge? If you print any labels on line or use the PBS wrapper without postage (PBS-DC), they must be purchased with eDC which costs 0.19

Just an idea.

Hi Joy, PBS estimates the weight of the book based on information within the Amazon database and an estimate of what the paper wrapper will add.

Unfortunately, the Amazon database is often wrong, and people wrap their books a variety of different ways.

If you always take your books to the counter, you don't need to worry about it because you'll always get the right rate. If you want to start using PBS electronic postage, it is strongly recommended you get a little scale to make sure you have the correct weight of your wrapped package. You can find them cheap online or in thrift stores.
