I always use printable postage thru the site.

I printed out a wrapper/postage, and one of the few times I did not double check the weight,  the wrapper printed out with a weight way too low and first class (unnoticed by me, as I was wrapping a lot of books and not paying attention).  I mailed out the book.  Yesterday I got the book returned to me, as it was too heavy for 1st class, and did not have enough postage on it anyways.

I am never able to go to the post office.  Don't get home til well after 5 p.m.  I sent PBS a message explaining and inquiring if the could cancel the wrapper so I could reprint with the correct postage.  I was aware I would not be refunded.  They cancelled it, and I re printed the wrapper with the correct weight.  I did not mark it mailed, because I drop my books in the blue box on the way to work (I can't mail anything except for envelopes from my community mailbox).  Well,  about an hour after I got the new wrapper printed, I got a message saying that the request was cancelled because it went over the time limit for marking the book mailed!!!  (when I reprinted, it did not give me the option of putting another time on it).

So now I have this wrapper, with the correct weight and postage, but the wrong address!!  I reposted the book and hopefully the previous requester had the book offered the them in the mean time because it went to someone else.  Is it okay for me to cross out the address on my wrapper and hand write the new requesters address?

No, you cannot change the address on the pre-printed wrapper.

Contact the original member from the canceled transaction in your Transaction Archive and explain to her what happened. Tell her that your request was canceled and is now in her transaction archive, but she has a new request on her My Account page which was automatically created by the system. Ask her to cancel that request if possible and to contact you once she has done that. You can then send her the book she ordered with the new wrapper that has the correct postage on it and she can mark it received from her Transaction Archive when she gets it.

Cathy's correct - the only way you can use that address label is to mail to that address - if the other person can cancel the new request, you can still send the book to them.

Thanks!   The new requester has already requested it,  so I'm going to leave it as it is and just eat the cost of the previous wrapper.  I know how it sticks to have a wish list book offered then taken away.

Ahhhhhhhhh well, thanks for the replies.

You have to really watch eh PBS weights because they get the info from other sources or people make mistakes when editing books and imputting data or publishers reuse ISBNs.  You can add stamps to make up the difference. So for the future you may want to keep some on hand.  You can buy stamps online, through the mail or at many stores.
