I was just doing a funny experiment; searching for books on my own bookshelf.  Two of them showed up on the list with the notation "on my bookshelf".  The third one I tried didn't show up at all.  Why would that be?  Do I need to repost it?  This was one without an ISBN; a little self-published type of book.  But it should still show up, right?  If I can't find it nobody else can!  =0(

I cant see your shelf cause its on hold.

Yep, unhold your shelf and try again. If it still doesn't show up, tell us the book title.

If it's the only one in the system, which it would be if you had to assign it an ISBN#-it won't show up because your shelf is on hold.  The others are showing up because they are also posted by other members.  It won't offer the book to be ordered as long as your shelf is on hold. 

Also are you typing it in right? I could not find a book yesterday for the life of me.  After looking it up on Amazon I realized I was missing an "s" in the title and it would not bring the book up her until I typed in the "s". Well it might have under author but this was a popular, prolific author w/500+ books in the system and I didn't want to wade through that many.

Have you tried searching by author? And title? We could check too if you will let us know the title. If the book is on a WishList hold, it would show on your main account page tabs.

Hmmm... i did a search by Title and it showed. But when i did a search by tag, it didn't.

The book is called Dinosaurs: Companion To Dinosaurs Before Dark  (Research Guide).

It shows when you search by title (i should have searched for it that way i guess) but it won't come up by tag, and the tag is Magic Tree House Research Guide.

I'm trying to tag my books properly, and was hoping it would come up in search that way, as well.

Oh boy. I feel like i've asked a totally useless question, haha.

Not at all, questions are good. Gives us forum readers a chance to stretch our knowledge too. I dont know too much about Tags, but hopefully someone who uses them will answer here.

The tags arent searchable yet. Its a fairly new feature here and there arent enough of them yet.

Tracey, it should show up on a database search.  Unless it's been requested.  If it was requested (and you just hadn't gotten the request yet) there would be an exclamation point next to it saying that a request was pending.

If the tag isn't in the Tag Cloud you will need to bring up a book that has the exact tag "Magic Tree House Research Guide" and click it, the others with that tag should come up.  I  tried it and 20 came up.

Okay, I "unheld" my bookshelf and the book still doesn't show up.  Well, actually there are 1160 titles that show up, and I've only gone through the first two pages, but it seems like anything with the exact title would be right at the beginning of the list. 

The book is "Beyond Time" by Gwen Frostic. 

This is what PBS says:

If you have posted a book and you see it on your bookshelf but you can't find it when you search the PBS database:

• Most likely you are entering incorrect information in the Search field.
• Check the spelling of the terms you are using to search 
• Try a search by ISBN
• You should see the notation on the listing that comes up: You have posted this book.

This doesn't help me because the book has no ISBN, and I'm sure I'm spelling everything correctly.  Oh well, maybe someone will come across it when they check my bookshelf.

Lisa, it's the second book on your bookshelf when I clicked Books on your post.

And when I entered "Beyond time frostic" in the space at the top of the page it came up.

Lisa: Yes, I see it there too.  When I search for "beyond time," it comes up on the first page.  When I search for "Gwen Frostic" it is the first book that comes up.  How were you searching?

I was typing "Beyond Time" into the search box at the top of the page.  It didn't show up on the list.  Then I typed "Gwen Frostic" in the search box and it showed a book by some other author with a different title.  I'm not sure where the system saw a connection!  LOL!

Well, NOW it worked!  Maybe it took a little while after I took my bookshelf off hold?  Well, all's well that ends well!  Thanks y'all!
