I have posted over 30 books today , but they are not showing up on my BIR list.  It worked yesterday.  I tried refresh but that did not fix the list.  Any ideas?   KEZ

KEZ, books will not automatically show up on the BIR list when posted, they need to be rated before they show up there.  If the books you posted were not yet rated by you, they would not be added to your BIR list.

If you did rate them, and tried to add them to BIR and they are not showing up, then there would seem to be some new problem happening here...

I just posted 4 more books to be sure of what I did and did not do.  I used multiple posting.

It did not give me an option to rate them.  I checked the BIR list.  Two were already on that list, but the other two are no where to be found on that list.  They only show up on the book shelf, not on the BIR list.      KEZ

It appears that if some of the books in the multiple posting list are rated then the program assumes all are rated or your don't want them on the BIR list even though the box is checked.  I don't get an option to rate the ones that are not already on the BIR list.

I am a newbie.  I put many books on the BIR list first, not realizing if I posted them I could auto list them on the BIR list.  Since I have so many duplicate books, the BIR list of great interest to me.

Looks like I have to go back through my book shelf and rate anything that does not have yellow stars and then click the BIR button.  I am not a happy camper.   And then check the books I have mailed to make sure they are on the BIR list.  I don't like the duplicates so I want to be able to check the BIR list before I order more books.         KEZ

KEZ,

Checking "Add to my Books I've Read List" will not work.  You should now be able to go to the books on your bookshelf and rate them. Rating them is the ONLY way they will appear on your Books I've Read List.  In the mean time  I will send in Feedback to the team about that " Add to My Books I've Read" check box.

I just rated some of the books I added to the bookshelf today.  They automatically showed up on the BIR list.  Thank goodness.  Now all I have to do is look for blue stars.  The posting list is still not working though.  If some of them are not rated, it should give you the option to rate them.  I  now know I did it backwards, but I had no idea I would be posting 300+ books (I am half way done).  I thought I would be posting 20 or 30 at a time.  KEZ

It used to be that when you posted a book and checked the add it to my BIR button it did just that. Then about a year ago (or so) they made it so you have to rate them.  There was much grumbling as people were coming on and finding their BIR completely gone.

I wonder how accurate those star ratings really are because I don't really put much thought into them. I just rate them so they go on my list and show up as being on my BIR when I'm looking for books on PBS.

I'm with you, Mary.  I am listing books that have been on a shelf in my home sometimes for years.  Some of them came from friends and neighbors and I have no interest in them.  I just cick a star to make the program work.  I read so many so fast I can't remember what most of them were about.

Your remark about people finding their lists gone one day makes me nervous.  Is there a way to back up the info we have entered?  I am big on backing up my info and there is a lot of info here that I do not want to lose.   KEZ

A warning was sent out that books would have to be rated in order to stay on your BIR. People ignored this and then "poof" their BIR was empty.  I just went through my BIR and clicked in the middle on each one. I had hundreds on their and many were books I read years ago and put on their so I wouldn't order them in a deal or box trade by mistake.

So anyway that's why the info was removed because people didn't rate in time.

KEZ, the only way to backup your data is to download it.  Look at the top right on any of your "Lists" pages and click the Download button.  It will download the list to an excel spreadsheet.  It's not very sophistocated, as it just downloads the book name, author and ISBN, and there is no way to "upload" back into the system if something ever happened to your PBS list.  But it's way better than nothing and has been very helpful to me in generating spreadsheets of different things I want to keep track of.

I joined Goodreads and had it load everything from PBS onto my Goodreads shelf.  So you could do something like so if PBS every has a major system crash your data is there.
