I have a HB copy of The Help that somehow got some light water damage.  If I were to receive a book in this condition from another member, it wouldn't bother me because the damage is light and doesn't affect the readability of the book at all.  Should I post the book anyway, and then just explain its condition to the requestor?

No.  Water damage is not postable regardless of whether you would accept it or not.  (and accepting water damage books and not marking them RWP is just encouraging people to send unpostable books).  If you post it and PM then the requestor is put in an awkward position or what to do.  Even if you offer to cancel, they're not getting an other offers for that WL book while waiting for you to cancel.

What you can do is offer hte book in the book bazaar.  Explain the damage and that you want a credit for it. Then someone who has it on their WL and doesn't mind can PM you for it.

No, do not post it.  The PBS guidelines clearly state in several places that any water/liquid damage or staining renders a book unpostable.  I was all ready to send my copy of The Help out a few months ago when my son spilled a cup of tea and splashed the book. :(  I had to e-mail the requestor and cancel the transaction.

You can offer it in the book bazaar with a description of the nature and extent of the damage, and ask for a credit. Someone may be willing to spend a credit on such a heavily wishlisted book. But no posting it to FIFO.

Thank you for all the responses.  I didn't know about the book bazaar, so that was a great help!  :)
