Somewhere on one of these forums (don't remember exactly where, so I apologize if this is redundant),  I read something about posting to a particular person's wish list.   I take that to mean that if someone on a forum, or a buddy, knows that I own a particular book which they want, and which hasn't yet been posted, I can circumvent FIFO and WL order, and post it specifically to that person.

Did I understand this correctly? And how is it done?  If I go to that person's WL and click "Post this book," will it go directly to him/her, or into the general pool?

Yes, you can post directly to someone's WL.

And yes again, go to the person's WL and click the "post this book" button and it will directly to that person's WL.

As for how that comes about, it's more an "offering" deal than an "asking" deal. I would never PM someone and say "Do you have this book? Will you post it to me?" That's not good. (Well, some situations arise where it's kosher but only after it's known that they have the book and it's usually among good buddies -- those you talk with a lot or see in the games a lot).

But usually we do offer and pass around WL books with buddies. I see something that one of my regular buddies has on their WL and I'll offer it to them and vice versa.

Yes, this is exactly what you do.  Just make sure that you click on "Post this book" while you're on their shelf, and don't click on the title while you're browsing, or else you'll be posting it FIFO.  You can double check when the confirmation screen comes up; the prompt will have the member's name on it, words to the effect of  "you are posting this book to so-and-so's WL".  I can't remember the exact wording, but you want to make sure you see that confirmation that you're posting the book to this specific person before you confirm that you want to post the book.

Thanks for the info.   I don't think I'd ever ask another member for a WL book (unless that member were a personal friend or something like that).  But I might sometime want to offer one and I'm glad to know it can be done.
