I posted two books to the same member just a bit ago. I made sure I was posting to her WL and it confirmed that it was being posted to this member before I hit the post button. I then proceeded to my account page to confirm it was posted to the member and nothing was there. Then it dawned on me that it was because I had my bookshelf on vacation hold so I took the hold off and the WL holds appeared. However, the books appeared to have gone into FIFO rather than the member I posted the books directly to. So did this happen because I failed to take my account off hold first or should it have posted to that member regardless?

Leticia that is basically correct!

Both the sender and receiver's bookshelf must be open (not on hold) but it sounds like your 'receiver' might have had their account on hold or they no longer had the book on her Wish List . This would cause the book to go into FIFO (or the next person wish listing it.)

You did say you confirmed "who" it was going to but did you confirm with the person first - before sending - that the book was in fact still on their Wish List? That's the only thing I can think of. This link will also give you some additional info:

Cali,

The other member's account was not on hold and she had both books on her wishlist which is how I was able to post them directly to her.  Only my account was on hold when I posted the books directly to her.

Hey Leticia!  =)

If the *post* you sent initially was while your account was on hold, then yes, FIFO took the books. And you will be able to confirm it once the request is "accepted" as to who it went to.

Once that happens, you can certainly click "I cannot mail this book" and send a PM to this person apologizing for the error. It will even give you a list of reasons when you click "I cannont mail this book" and one of the reasons is "There was an error in listing." No hard feelings, nothing, Then you can re-do your post directly to your friend's Wish List. (Just make sure your shelf is not on hold. ;-)  I hope that helps!

Cheers! And Happy Reading! =)

I haven't had to cancel an order in a while, but I don't recall a list of reasons being given, just a box to type in. Maybe they now have a checklist for common reasons?

One of the FIFO members already accepted and in cancelling the book request all I got was the box to type in a reason. I'll see what happens with the other one.
