Excellent!! I read this in two nights and didnt want to put it down! I couldnt wait to read the sequel and went out and bought it a few days later! The second one was pretty good as well, and such a great series! AWESOME characters!!!
Ok first off since this does not have a description about what the book is all about I'll write up here what the back of the book says:
Meet the Potluck Club-Six women who gather each month to share their insatiable appetitie for good friends, great food, and a pinch of prayer. Their seemingly unlikely friendship brings a little spice to life in Summit View, Colorado. But when they send up enough misinformed prayers to bring down a church, things get interesting....
Evie's niece arrives with a broken heart and a big surprise.
Lisa Leann tries to take over.
Goldie's marriage turns sour.
Donna stews over a strange encounter.
Lizzie's librarian eyes are on the lookout for trouble.
Vonnie must come to terms with a secret she's kept hidden from her best friends.
But who knows what life will serve as the Potluck Club discovers that friendship is no piece of cake and that a little dash of grace, like salt, goes a long way.
Ok now for my review.
The start of the book is a little difficult as each chapter deals with a character, so you have to try and remember the characters and their issues. But the story picks up pace rapidly and you start to remember each person (and the back of the book is a big help) You honestly see these ladies as teenagers instead of older women. They do deal with a lot of issues, especially cancer in this book. There are recipes in the back of the book that you can cook, but I didn't try any of them. This is a wonderful read, and is the first book in the series. I can't wait to read the others!
A prayer group of six women who cook, pray, and struggle through life. Funny, sad, and enjoyable!
Six women gather monthly for friendship, food, and a little prayer. Humor and sadness are found in this book. Not at all preachy.
This is a great book about 6 women who gather each month to share a meal and a prayer. Some unlikely friendships are occur as some events change their lives.... I definitely recommend this book!
I absolutely loved this book and cannot wait to read the next installment this summer. It is so true to life...funny, sad, honest, and graceful. Truly a great read!
This was a wonderful book.......full of love, friendship, troubles and God's love! I rate it A+++!!!
Great read. Good clean fun.
I loved this book! Can't wait to read the next one...
Very engaging and fun story of six women who gather monthly for a potluck dinner.
Great story... am looking forward to the next in the series.
"Delicious characters. Tasty plot. A novel to savor." - Gayle Roper
Quick read. Similar to Yada Yada Prayer Group.
Very touching- a gtreat read
I have had this series awhile and just now got around to starting it. I shouldn't have waited! Interesting characters with real life experiences.
This is great fun. Each chapter is told from the perspective of a different member of the group. You really get to know each gal very well and that just adds to the fun of this funky prayer group.
I really enjoyed this book. It is Christian fiction centering abour six women in a prayer chain/potluck club. The story is well written and I enjoy the perspective of the small town paper reporter Clay Whitefield. It is a building of relationships and solving real life problems. I'm looking forward to the 2nd in the series.
A fun book. Felt like I was getting to know the ladies in this small town. I even copied some of the recipes to try.
A great book that I didnt want to put down!!Scriptures where quoted in the stories which I really liked and had some great recipes. Cant wait to read book 2 of this series!!
Very fast read. Really enjoyed it. Now book #2 of the series is on my wish list.
