An excellent introduction to meditation. This book gives the very basics (how to sit, how to breathe, when to meditate) and then gives a 30-day program to try out different meditation techniques (one a day, building on each other). Even if you have been meditating for quite a while, this book will introduce you to some new methods by working through the month-long program.
