This past weekend (actually 3 days ago - May 26) I had a wishlisted book come up. i accepted it that day Memorial Day - a Postal holiday. I was mailed from Mass...(can't spell that state - too many letters) to my home in California. I received it today. I am amazed it made it that far  that quick. Great job postal workers!!!!!!!

Now for my question: is media mail only transported by truck or is it, for much longer distances, tranported via air??

i think it must go by air at least some times.  i don't know if there's a rule about it.

i had one memorable set a couple of weeks ago - i mailed 9 packages by dropping them in the blue box on saturday near home in CA, and every single package was delivered on monday according to the DCs, and most of them were marked received that day too.  i was pretty impressed since most of them were headed most of the way to the East Coast!

Media mail travels by space availability. I've noticed that those items I've mailed on the weekend will make that long trip cross country in a weekend at times.
