I love, love, LOVE Jen's books but this one was really not my favorite. While I still really like it, it did not seem to have as many of those smart ass comments that make you bust out laughing at inappropriate moments.
I would still reccomend it however don't expect it to be quite like any of her other books. In no way does it affect my love for Jen Lancaster books - as a matter of fact I can't wait to read her (hopefully) next book!

I absolutely LOVE Jennifer Lancasters books! This was probably my favorite of all books! We finally learn why she is who she is! Quick witted, fun, easy to read, and best of all entertaining. I read the book in 3 days! I couldn't put it down and I am a slow reader!

I have read all of Jen Lancaster's books...and I have to say that this was my least favorite. There were still the laugh out loud moments, and her usual snarkiness, but something bugged me about this book.

Maybe it was that I felt rushed--like she covered too much time in this book. It just felt unfocused to me, even though each chapter was focused on a certain type of fashion (clothes, shoes, etc.).

It was still worth the read, but if you only want to read one of her books, choose Such a Pretty Fat.

I liked most of this book. I couldn't relate to the tales of her sorority life. I did enjoy her description of her job and the frustrations she faces. I love the ending!

I fell in love with Jen Lancaster when our former Book Blub (somebody kept misspelling "club" in the emails and it stuck!) picked Bitter is the New Black as out first ever book. No one had ever heard of her or the book, but after falling in love with the cover and read the back, it was the only one we unanimously chose!

If you have never read her, she is quick witted and very funny. She uses little footnotes throughout the book to add a pop of extra humor throughout her stories (the footnnotes are H-I-larious so don't skip them.

I have read all of her books:
Bitter is the New Black
Bright Lights Big Ass
Such a Pretty Fat

and now

Pretty in Plaid

I liked this book. It takes you through Jen's childhood, college, and early twenties. Each chapter is focused around a different item of clothing. My favorite stories revolved around her girl scout sash, her jean jacket and designer bag envy in her sorority stories and the navy blue suit she gets for her entrance to the corporate world.

You get to hear stories of how Jen overcomes being an outsider in Cow Town, stories about sorority rush (I loved these since I was rush chair of my sorority and remember doing dress checks etc. We were even more strict than she was!), and her first few years as a working girl (it made me feel better that she had quite a few broke years when she first started out too!)

It's a good book as all Jen Lancaster books are, but Bitter is the New Black is still my favorite.
