I have 2 wishlisted books that both have price stickers on the front cover.  They are both paperbacks.  Are they postable?

Yes. Price stickers can be a problem if they are not removed while fresh. Some never come off clean. Often safer to keep them on.

Tape can be used to lightly remove the glue. Rubber cement or goo gone have been suggested in the past. But there is always a risk in trying to remove stickers.

When I have something like that I always send a pm to the requester and give them the opportunity to cancel before the max mailing date.

I get very irritated at book stores who put hard to remove stickers on the front cover.

Under the subsection for Bookcrossing books in the HC, it specifically states that these books may have identifying stickers and are OK to post. I figure if Bookcrossing stickers are OK, price stickers are OK as well.  I've posted and received numerous books with price stickers and have never had a problem. If someone doesn't want books with price stickers they should have an RC stating this.

Ditto. They're completely fine IMO.

I think its ok to post them I have a no sticker RC with an exemption of price stickers/store stickers.  I once got a mmpb book with a huge dora sticker on the front and when I pm'd pbs about it they said there was no rule against it so I now have a no stickers rule on my RC's.  When I pm'd the member about it she said she had a young impressionable child and purchased a whole bunch of large stickers to put over the cover on anything she deemed inappropriate and she didn't think it was against the rules.  So instead of purchasing a slip cover to put over her questionable covers she slapped huge character stickers on them.  I love seeing the front covers so I had to have an RC!  However I have the exemption for price stickers as you can't control them and taking them off can be a bitch!

I agree price stickers are fine. I guess I currently don't have enough wrong with my life because I would have blown a fuse over a Dora sticker on my book. Books should be loved not covered with a sticker or colored/scribbled in!

Edited to add. Perhaps she could keep her books away from her child.

and  I don't accept Book Crossing Books because so many people feel they need to slap a dozen stickers on it.

They don't want that barcode read. They'll add their own barcode or the one on the inside front cover is used.

Jeanne, that's such a huge pain for me!  I hate when they cover the barcodes/ISBNs.

They are fine.  For me ,if it looks like they'll peel off easy I take 'em off if not I dont try.  Just to be safe.

What does drive me crazy is when the ISBN code covers up the one on the back.  I need to see it to post it.

I never remove stickers.  With my luck, I'd tear the cover or all the glue wouldn't be removed and it would pick up dirt and I'd end up with a RWAP. So the stickers stay.  If someone doesn't want stickers, they can have an RC.

Lisa B, when the sticker covers the bar code on the cover, I flip to the info page inside the book and input the ISBN from there.

Books with price stickers on the covers are okay to post, but I really hate receiving books with stickers that are difficult or impossible to remove without damaging the cover. I do remove then when I can, but with experience I have learned that some will not come off without causing damage.  Those I leave alone.

As Emily said, there is always a risk in removing stickers. In my opinion it is better to leave them on when not certain rather than risk further damage to the cover with well-intended, but botched, attempts to remove them. One of my peeves is carelessly-placed stickers that obscure interesting or important information.

Marie I was pretty pissed about the dora sticker, that's why I took it to pbs, I was a little sad that they made me feel like I was making a huge deal out of nothing.  Oh well I'm pretty sure it was a one time thing never to be repeated and if on some off chance I ever order from her again I have the RC now!

I also hate books with the barcode on the back covered.  It makes it so much harder to update my goodreads tbr pile.  Its so much easier to use my phone and scan the barcode without having to open the book.  Those stickers put a crimp in scanning!
