The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie
Author: Muriel Spark
At once comic and provocative, The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie, set in the highly charged political atmosphere of the 1930s, is a story of idealism, disenchantment and ultimately betrayal. 'These are the years of my prime. You are benefiting by my prime.'

Really excellent. A lovely short novel about a free-thinking teacher and her students in 1930s Edinburgh. Spark writes such beautiful sentences and captures the nature of teenage girls perfectly.
