Engaging romance, which held my interest throughout

This book was not as good as the first in the series. Foley definitely hit a sophomore slump. The writing was her up to her normal standards but I really disliked the heroine. She came across as spoiled and uncaring. She just didn't do it for me. Darius, on the other hand, was a great character. He was dynamic, mainly because he was moody. The chemistry between these too saved the book. The plot, while holding promise, was cliched and overdone. Thankfully, Foley's body of works saved me from hating this particular work.

This is a great book. I could't put it down. This is the second in the series and I feel you do need to read them in order (I feel this way about all series books though... you could read this one out of order but there are some spoilers).
BUT I have a few issues with Ms. Foley. First, she doesn't stick to the storyline between book one and book two on how Darius is found. I have a BIG issue with this and feel that it would have been VERY easy to connect the how he was found in book one with the storyline she gives him in book 2. Also I don't think that she did a good job of preserving the characters from book one in book two. Maybe it is because I read book 2 right after finishing book 1 and didn't give my mind time to jump 20 years in the future with the characters so I am trying to be forgiving about this.
I do love the book. For all of us who have dreamed of Knights and Secret Service agents protecting us... this is the book for us.
For all those that are interested in this series, I currently have all three books and I am a boxer (12/09).
Happy Reading!
