Why can't I print PBS delivery confirmation with PBS postage when I send a book to a member.

Did I miss something in the rules?

The book is not a PBS book from my bookshelf. It's a personal book from my home. I'm sending it to a PBS member.

I can print delivery confirmation, but there is no option for printing PBS postage along with it.

Why is that?

for sending to friend  which this sounds like   you cant use printed postag

from help docs

you would like to send one of your books as a gift to a friend  (PBS member or non-PBS member):

This is called the mail-to-a-Friend feature.

  • Go to the Book Details page for the book (click on the book title or cover image anywhere on the site)
    • Choose "Mail-to-a-Friend" under More Options on the right of the page
    • If the book is currently Posted as available on your Bookshelf, there is also a Mail-to-a-Friend link on the upper right of the Book Details page.
  • Fill in the name and address where you want the book sent
    • Print out the wrapper and send the book as usual - you may use PBS-DC or Printed Postage in the process.
    • The transaction will appear on your account page on the "Books Sent to a Friend" tab
  • When your friend receives the book, mark it received from that tab.
  • This is a non-credit transaction. No credit will be deducted, or granted, for sending your book out this way.

Looks to me like she should be able to do it.

Oh, good!

This must be a new feature!

Thanks so much for finding this for me!

You can print postage with the Mail to a Friend feature -- I did so myself not long ago.

Do you have enough funds in your PBS Money to cover the postage, Elona?  That is sometimes an issue.

Were you trying to use Custom DC? That has never allowed PBS postage. My guess is it was because PBS postage assumes the item that is being mailed qualifies for Media Mail and will switch between First Class and MM accordingly; since people can use Custom DC to get a DC for anything, using PBS postage was not an option.

Now that we can use the postage with th Mail to a Friend option, we can get PBS postage for books we want to send without them going through transaction.

Mail to a friend - Yes, you can purchase postage.

Custom DC - You can only print DC.

This had me confused for a while, until I figured out that there was more than one way of printing non-transaction labels.

I am so glad I found this thread. I knew I could print out postage from this site before but couldn't figure out why I could only get the DC portion come up.
I wasted $0.27 on a DC before I realized no postage was attached. Grrrr.

Whoops, just realized this does not do what I want it to do.

There used to be an option to print postage that was not just for books. It asked the weight, asked if it was first class or media, etc.  I was hoping to print postage for a small (non media mail) package. I guess we can no longer do that.
