   Please no one throw rocks! I have the twilight books in hard cover and a dear friend was just put on bed rest and I want to mail them to her. Without posting them to PBS can I use the print postage function with my PBS money to send them to her?

Unfortunately, no.  You can "mail to a friend" but you can't use printable postage.

You could have your friend open an account, put your ISBN on her wish list, buddy her credits, and then post to her wish list, but that's pretty complicated.

Whoopsie.  Yes, it does work.

Just post a dummy book to your shelf (use one with lots of copies in the system, don't use the Twilight books themselves). Then you can use the Mail To a Friend Option that will show up on the dummy book once it is posted. You will need to weigh and adjust for the actual package weight to get the right postage.

eta: What?? You can't use PBS postage for mail to a friend anymore? Off to investigate..  it does work.

Under the My account tab at the top, click on custom DC.  You can mail the books to her using this.

Custom DC does not let you use PBS postage, all you can do is pay the fee to print DC and postage needs to be applied.

Mail to A Friend DOES allow you to use PBS postage, I just got as far as printing my label. It goes to your order tab and looks just like any other order. The only difference is that both ends of the transaction show up in your account and you will need to mark it as mailed and received both.

OK sorry all LOL - I just tried it and it does work.

The really funny part is that to test it, I posted a book I thought NO ONE WOULD WANT -- and it's wish listed.  So thanks for the order!  LOL!

You can post something without an ISBN - that way it won't be wish listed - then click on your bookshelf, on the details, and then mail it to a friend from the book detail page.  And, yes, you can use printable postage and pay with PBS money.  Sorry for the incorrect post above!

Thinking maybe I can get the 4 of them in a flat rate box for less?

I just weighed 4 full sized HCs (I don't have the Twilight :( to be perfectly accurate) but they weigh under 6 lbs, so that would be $3.98 MM, $7 parcel post. Even with PBS fees, that's cheaper. I don't think you'd get them in a Flat Rate box for less than the 10.xx one. The shoe box size would be too small.

<can anyone tell I don't want to work ;P>

I've used the mail to a friend option several times.  I always use an over-popular author - I have a dedicated book for it.  By Dan Brown.  Is there anyone anywhere that doesn't have a Dan Brown book of some title?  LOL!!  It works great!  I love PBS!

when I have to mail WL books for a game I used a Danielle Steel or a Stephen King book.  2 author's I don't read who have tons of copies of just about every book in the system.  Most of the time I do the Mail to a Friend thing right away to get it into my Books To Mail sections and off my shelf. But one time I picked a less common book to use a dummy, got distracted and ended up having to cancel an order for the book.  So use a dummy book that has loads of copies-think Nora Roberts, James Patterson, Grisham etc.., I try to pick one with the same binding to help me remember which book it was.
