What is the latest on this?  I was in an extreme hurry - got an order just as I logged on to put my account on hold - and decided to use the printable postage feature.  I didn't look that closely at the label; I just printed it and wrapped the book and dropped it in the mailbox.  At the time I thought I paid a lot for a first class rate, but due to a family emergency my mind was on other things.  I just went and looked and I was indeed charged the media mail rate but the package was clearly labeled first class mail.  I'm hoping that the media mail rate amply covered the postal charge - it should have - so I'm not worried about the package being returned, but I'm concerned about the additional charge for media rate when first class would have been cheaper.  In this instance I didn't mind paying the extra fees (.18 for dc and .43 for the pre printed postage) because the line at the post office was ridiculously long, but in most instances I'm thinking I may just go the post office (I pass it all the time anyway so it's not an inconvenience).

OR - did I do something wrong?  Do you have to click on something to make the media mail and first class all match up somewhere?  Admittedly I was in such a rush I just clicked and moved on.  What did I miss?

Thanks.

How heavy was the book and what did you pay? For I believe a 7 oz book it will print the FC wrapper and charge 2.15 because its 2 cents more but will get there faster.

USPS Electronic DC Fee: $0.18 Media Mail Postage Cost: $2.13 Total Postage Cost: $2.31 PBS-DC Fee: $0.27 PBS-Postage Fee: $0.43 Total deducted from PBS Money: $2.74

6.5 oz book, so it would have rounded up - although the rate charged was the $2.13 media rate.   Thanks for the info - I thought a 7 oz book would have been less than $2.15 - apparently I'm still adjusting to the rate hike!  :)

7 oz is the last weight where the postage should print as FC everything after that will be media cause its cheaper. It took me a while to figure it out when the rate change happened :D

I would PM the person who will be receiving it in case it comes with postage due.  You can warn them and say to let them know if this does occur (any post office in-between can bump up the postage rate if they so choose due to the "First Class" wording).  You can always buddy credits if there is postage due to make up the difference.

Thanks...I got a thank you PM from them and they said it arrived in great shape, but maybe I'll send a return PM advising of the problem and double checking to make sure it didn't come with postage due.  It was a brand new PBS member's first book to arrive.
