I mailed out 3 books on the 26th of June (Monday). I used Printable Postage so I have already received the credits for the 3 books.

However -
None of the 3 books (to date) have been scanned in by any Post Office at any location.
1 of the books has already been received by the requestor and marked as received (by them) - but it still does not have any Post Office scanned data at all.
2 of the books has yet to have been marked as received by their respective requestors and there still is no Post Ofice scans of any kind - I know that there are a few PBS members who seem to want to read their requested books before they mark them as received (maybe two or three, perhaps) and so there might be anoher week before these books might get marked as received, but it seems strange that 3 books going to 3 different states have failed to have been scanned somewhere in their travels.

Has this happened to anyone else since the "Time of Troubles" when PBS made their shift from the old way to the new way?

I just checked a book I mailed on June 28 using printed postage and it doesn't show any p o scans either.    Some I mailed earlier and have been received did show details so this is a recent development.

Have you tried manually entering the USPS tracking number into the USPS.com site? Suspect this may be an issue with PBS not displaying information rather than USPS not scanning.

Mary,

no I hadn't and then I did - one shows in process and the other shows as delivered with scans along every stop - I sent the PBS Team (Contact Us) a detailed notice and hope they can get this fixed sometime soon.

I received one today that didn't show any scans either (mailed on 6/27/17) and it didn't even show a delivery scan, so don't know if it's a PO or PBS problem. Pat

This seems to be a PBS problem as scans are showing up on My USPS app and those manually entered at the USPS web site. Had a book delivered yesterday with no scans at all at PBS but My USPS detailed everything.

I mailed a book yesterday and there are no scans on USPS or on here. So it is possible that my book just wasn't scanned anywhere yet or that the blue box wasn't emptied as that is an issue at my post office.

Rebecca, I have noticed that books dropped in a big blue box often are not scanned until they hit a regional distribution center, which might be 1-5 days after I mailed it.

So is printable postage from PBS just payment for an instant credit? I have never used it as I live in an area with many convenient POs

Printable postage is a way to get postage without going to the post office. You just wrap your books, weigh then, type the weight into the box and generate a postage label. Then you can either mail from home, drop it in a blue box or drop it inside the post office. With PBS Printable postage there is the fee that covers the credit assurance. Some people use Paypal's postage as well.

I am a standard member so once a month the PBS postage fee is waived. I believe it is once a quarter for limited members.

I mailed 3 books Friday and no scans showing on PBS but the USPS shows them all scanned and enroute. So there must be an issue with the link to PBS showing the scans.

My wonderful little P O has never failed me yet.  I always mail from my mailbox, and the following day the pkg(s) show rec'd at the P O.  After that it's a crap shoot...

Seems to be  a PBS glitch. All the books with Printable postage (6 of them) I've mailed out starting with 6/28 are not showing the scan info on the PBS system. They ARE being scanned by USPS, though.

I mailed 20 books with PBS postage on June 27. I have not gotten credit for any of them nor have any of them been scanned.

Bren, copy the DC # into www.usps.com and you can see the scans.  PBS's postage is clearly not linking to the tracking right now and hasn't been for at least a week.  There's a book that's been mailed to me with Printable Postage that doesn't show any scans on PBS, but several on USPS.  As a matter of fact, it was delivered today.

Other folks have already mentioned on your thread in the USPS Postage Regulations forum that you will only receive instant credit if you used PBS Printable Postage and marked the package mailed.

I do use PBS postage on everything I mail. I do not get instant credit I get quick credit when the book is scanned the first time. I don't exactly understand the difference or why I get the quick credit instead of instant. I think it has something to do with having had my account on hold for over five years.

Bren,

Confused. I thought the point of paying for PBS postage was instant credit? If that is not happening, isn't it a rather pointless waste of money?

For those who are curious, from the help docs:

Why is Instant Credit disabled in my account?

Instant Credit is a feature that accompanies PBS Printable Postage.  If your account is in good standing, then the books you mark mailed with Printable Postage will give credit immediately.  Only accounts with good records are eligible for Instant Credit.

Instant Credit will be disabled if there is a problem with your sending record, such as a high outgoing "loss" rate, a record of late mailing or nonmailing, or a history of sending unpostable items (damaged books, ARCs, etc.).

If you get an email telling you that Instant Credit has been disabled in your account, you will most likely already know why this is - we will have discussed your account problems with you. The email will also tell you that:

While Instant Credit is disabled in your account, you can still use ALL of the other features here, including Printable Postage and PBS Delivery Confirmation with Quick Credit.  ONLY Instant Credit will not be available to you.

While Instant Credit is disabled in your account, marking a book mailed with Printable Postage will not give Instant Credit.  The shipment will earn either

Quick Credit when the package barcode is scanned by USPS and transmitted to our system or regular credit when the book is marked received

If Instant Credit is disabled, you will also not receive Guaranteed Credit - so if your package is not scanned (or it is mailed late) you are not entitled to credit.

In order for Instant Credit to be re-enabled in your account, you will need to improve your sending record.

The parameters for this will vary according to the specific case.  The email will tell you when you can ask to have your account re-assessed.

At least a month will need to have passed from the time IC was disabled, and

You will need to send a certain number of packages in a row that are received promptly - the email will specify how many if that is the case.

When the requisite time has passed and the requisite number of packages IN A ROW have been RECEIVED PROMPTLY in your account, you can contact us using the feedback link at the top of the Contact Us page, and ask for re-assessment for eligibility to use Instant Credit.  We will then re-assess and let you know if we deem you eligible (or not eligible yet).

Mary,

I use PBS postage so I can mail from home instead of going to the post office as the post office is 15 miles away and I don't drive for health reasons. This particular time I had to go to the post office because I had several multi book deals that wouldn't fit in my mailbox so I mailed them when I went grocery shopping with my parents.

Linda's post makes sense I'm guessing my account is not in good standing because I had abandoned it for so long.

I'm with Danny on this.  Ever since the last few days of June no tracking is showing up on any of the books I've mailed.  I use printable postage and have received my credits for the books.  When linking to the USPS site all tracking shows, just not on the PBS site.  Any ideas?

I've noticed that when I check on the map that's supposed to show me where a book I ordered is in transit, it is blank. This has happened over the past week or so. I think that is what you all are talking about. Sounds like a PBS glitch.

Update -
I sent a heads-up to the PBSTeam (Contact Us) - their reply is below - problem being worked on at several levels and hopefully resolved soon -
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dear Danny,
Thanks for writing in! We noticed this last week and we've asked Endicia about it. So far, they haven't found the issue, but they're trying to find it. The problem might be with Endicia's transmission of the information to our system OR with USPS's transmission to Endicia.
We're very sorry for the problem. We do hope they figure this out soon! We'll keep after them.
Thank you again,
The PaperBackSwap Team
Thanks for posting about this. I just noticed that the last two things I mailed had no scans. One is a book I mailed on the 4th. Obviously I've received credit for it but the recipient hasn't marked it as received yet.
Definitely some type of communication error that PBS is not getting updates. A book I sent with printable postage was delivered Monday & myUSPS sent me notifications every step of the way. Nothing at all here.
